Apprenticeships and Internships
An apprenticeship at East Hill Boat Shop is part of the Apprenticeship Program at the Rochester Folk
Art Guild, a program designed for young people who are searching
for a practical, hands-on approach to learning and living. Working
alongside experienced master craftspeople, participants are offered a
focus in Wooden Boat Building & Restoration. Our apprenticeships are awarded to individuals who are accepted after 2 short
trial visits and require a minimum commitment of one year. The first visit
typically is for 2 or 3 days, after which time a second visit of about 2
weeks is arranged. Our apprenticeships are for a
period of one year with promising students offered the option of renewing
their apprenticeship annually for up to three years.
